Business of Art Conference 2025
March 7 @ 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Octagon Center for the Arts and the Ames Community Arts Council are partnering to present the 7th annual Business of Art Conference Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8, at Reiman Gardens in Ames.
This conference is designed to strengthen skills and provide resources for both formally trained and self-taught creatives. Topics this year include taking your artistic practice from hobby to business, developing a daily creative practice, selling your work, and so much more. In addition to professional development sessions, the conference will include networking opportunities throughout the day, giving participants the chance to talk one-on-one with the speakers, other professionals, and each other. Professionals and students in all types of creative work, part time or full time, in all stages of their career are welcome.
The keynote speaker will be Midwest artist and College of Design alumnus Chris Vance (BFA 2000 Visual Studies), whose work is rooted in a blend of cartoons, music, graffiti and skateboard culture. Learn more about Vance on his website. He will give presentations on both Friday and Saturday afternoons.
Registration is $100 for professionals and $50 for students, which includes lunch and snacks. Registration is for both days of the conference; single-day registration is not offered. Full conference details and registration can be found on the Octagon Center for the Arts’ website.
